As promised, Bose has begun the release of a new firmware update that introduces AirPlay 2 support for its Bose SoundTouch speaker range.
The update brings the firmware version 24.0.7 and is compatible with the following models:
Support will be implemented through a OTA update free that will be downloaded via the Bose SoundTouch app for iPhone and iPad.
Thanks to AirPlay 2 support it will be possible to enable the multi-room audio playback with other PAirPlay 2 devices, such as HomePod, Apple TV and other speakers from Sonos, Bose and Bowers & Wilkins. Compatible devices will appear in the Home app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch and can also be controlled via Siri’s voice commands.
Although the firmware distribution started on Tuesday, the update will be rolled out in stages, so some SoundTouch speaker owners may not receive the update until February 25th.
